Hello. I’m Cliff Osbourne and welcome to the site.

I have been involved in the radio industry for most of my time on this planet and it paid the bills for the majority of my working life. My first broadcast, on hospital radio, was in early 1974. From there my journey took me around the country and 18 miles beyond it! I still broadcast regularly today on Quasar – The Album Station. My story is not particularly remarkable, but I will rcount some of it here in time. However, what is remarkable is the story of Greenwich Sound. It was a community radio station that began 45 years ago at the time of writing (March 2025) and some 22 years before the powers that be in the UK sllowed the introduction of the large numbers of such staions we have today. You will be hard pushed to find much, or indeed anything, about Greenwich Sound on the internet or in the historical record, which is the primary reason for relating the story here.
